Graphic Design Specialist

Location: Arden Hills, Minnesota

Support live digital print production through preflighting, analyzing, and modifying print production files. Utilize standard desktop publishing software with a focus on PDF files (Adobe Acrobat and Enfocus PitStop). Troubleshoot print production issues by examining and, as needed, modifying digital files. Assist in planning large print projects. Some imposition may be required. Process variable data (mailing jobs) by cleansing and sorting data, then creating print ready production files.

- Preflight and analyze PDF files using Adobe Acrobat and Enfocus PitStop
- Repair and modify PDF files as needed for digital print production using Adobe Acrobat and Enfocus PitStop
- Mail list data cleanse, sorting, and creating mail merged files using MS Access, MS Excel, MS Word, HP SmartStream Designer
- Modify source files as needed for digital or offset print production using Quark Xpress. Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop
- Troubleshoot print quality issues with Production Team
- Impose PDF files using HP SmartStream Designer or Quite Imposing
- Work with internal/external clients on print production projects
- Partner with Production Team as needed to create new digital workflows
- Repurpose digital assets
- Others duties as assigned
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in Graphic Arts/Print Production
- 5 years relevant work experience with graphic arts desktop applications
- Experience in the digital and/or offset print industry
- Comprehensive knowledge of industry standard desktop publishing applications including The Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat) and Quark Xpress
- Working knowledge of Enfocus PitStop, MS Office products including Word, Excel, and Access
- Experience with HP SmartStream Designer, Prinergy, Preps, Quite Imposing would be a plus
- Working knowledge of digital and offset print production methods
- Strong understanding of file formats, image formats, image resolution, and fonts
- Strong understanding of color including RGB, CMYK, and spot colors
- Ability to analyze and edit print production files
- Ability to examine printed material and compare output to digital files
- Knowledge of composition attributes such as screens, overprinting, trapping, and color separations
- Ability to share knowledge with others
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong sense of urgency, ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Self-starter, ability to work with limited supervision
- Must have attention to detail; ability to recognize color differences in printed material
- Strong knowledge of Color Management is a plus
