What do you do at Deluxe?
I am the Director of Outsourcing Operations. I’m in the Remittance space which rolls up into the Payments Organization. My direct responsibility consists of leading and supporting a team of 160 direct and indirect associates to achieve the expectations of our clients, each other and deluxe.
How long have you been with Deluxe? How did you get your job at Deluxe?
I’ve been a Deluxer now just about 3.5 yrs. I became a Deluxer as part of an acquisition…best thing that could have happened! I was in my current role at the time the deal was done.
To date, what is your biggest career accomplishment at Deluxe? How were you able to accomplish that?
Being selected to participate in the Mckinsey Academy’s Black Leadership program and having a great team, for sure! But also, raising my hand and expressing mine and my team’s desire to help and do more within the remit space and outside. I heard someone say, “growth happens at the edge of your comfort zone, not within.” 2020 was an uncomfortable year! By no means is this about me. We win because of the great group of folks that support the Charlotte site. I’m thankful to have the opportunity to lead!!

“I started in an entry level role and pushed myself to follow my career goal of being in HR.”
Own it.

What do you do at Deluxe?
I’m an Employee Relations Associate within HR. My current responsibilities include reviewing and clearing background and drug screenings, reviewing and managing the immigration sponsorship for the employees, act as coordinator for COVID-19 triage team, secretary role with Employee Resource Groups, handle administrative work for Employee Relations office, ensure policies, procedures and employee handbooks are up to date, and help my teammates where I can.
How long have you been with Deluxe? How did you get your job at Deluxe?
16 years! I took a break from college to save money (I was 19), my mom and sister worked here and Deluxe happened to be hiring for an entry level sales rep. I applied and had my first interview. At that time, I was currently working in retail and customer service. I remember when the HR representative called me and told me I got the job. I told myself I would work here for a year and get back to school. Well, 16 years later… I got my associates and went on to receive my bachelor's with the help of Deluxe. I started in an entry level role and pushed myself to follow my career goal of being in HR.
What did my journey look like?
2005 - Started in an entry level sales position, it was about 6 months later when I knew I wanted to get into customer service side
2005 - (8 months into sales) went into Customer service when Deluxe bought NEBS and McBee – I was one of 12 reps to start in this role.
2007 - Being I was one of twelve reps to start on that system I became a Mentor. What is a mentor?? I helped new hires transition from the classroom to the sales floor for Sales and Customer service for our Nebs and McBee customers.
2010 - Signature Opportunity - Comet System Analyst - reviewed all errors and orders - A LOT of Data and testing.
2012 - Customer Service Specialist
2015 - Signature Opportunity - Development Trainer - Trained in new hires that were hired for our sales teams as well as internal development trainings that needed to be completed.
2017 - Talent Acquisition specialist - recruiting - Sourcing and phone screen interviewing and doing in person interviewing with hiring decisions.
2019 - Employee relations Associate - LOVING IT and all my responsibilities are listed above.
If you notice there is a trend, I had a goal to work in Human resources or Training - my training sig op helped me learn that HR was the path I wanted to go. But with each role change and career advancement gave me the different skill sets to keep building, keep growing.

Own it.

What do you do at Deluxe?
I am part of the small business sales team as a Senior Sales Consultant. My key responsibilities at Deluxe are driving sales based off customers business needs and providing world class customer service. I have also been given many opportunities to show my leadership skills by helping with various trainings within my department as well as other sales teams.
How long have you been with Deluxe? How did you get your job at Deluxe?
I found the Deluxe job posting on Indeed and I have been with my team since November of 2019.
What was your recruiting and interviewing experience like?
It was a typical sales interview as far as questions went, but outside of that, I think my now manager and the team lead made it much more welcoming and more like a conversation and not a “cross examination.”
To date, what is your biggest career accomplishment at Deluxe? How were you able to accomplish that?
My biggest accomplishment with Deluxe was taking on a temporary Support Lead position in another sales department. I went through another interview process and was able to prove myself for the position through the new hire training classes I had assisted with as well as always being willing to help my fellow teammates and managers. Although it was a temporary position it allowed me to showcase my skills that have, in return, opened many doors for me at Deluxe.

How long have you been with Deluxe? How did you get your job at Deluxe?
I had my 5-year anniversary with Deluxe in January 2021, and I just turned 27. Crazy to think a friend of mine name Nicolette, who worked with the web team at the time, referred me to Deluxe.
What was your recruiting and interviewing experience like?
Good. I went through a phone interview and an in-person interview. Once my foot was in the door, I could tell the people here were great.
To date, what is your biggest career accomplishment at Deluxe? How were you able to accomplish that?
Being hired on as a Team Leader has to be my biggest career accomplishment. I came to Deluxe with no call center experience, but the atmosphere here really allowed me to go all in. I worked hard and gave it all I got. After certifying as a Gold Sales agent in Small Business, I got the Sales Coach position. I got the opportunity to show off my creativity and leadership ability working closer with Small Business Leaders and local leadership. When the opportunity of impacting others and having my own team came up, I jumped at it.

“In the end, the team was really the thing that made a difference.”

What do you do at Deluxe?
I am a Talent Management Coordinator in the Human Resources department of Talent Management. Some of the key responsibilities in my role include; managing training and guides for talent processes in Workday, supporting and producing live events for various areas of the business, constructing internal communications for Talent Management and our Communications team, managing learning content within our Workday Learning Management System, designing and updating the Deluxe intranet based on department needs/wants, monitoring the performance review yearly cycle and ensuring we are on track, working with various departments to build learning content, and more! Although my department is Talent Management, I really am exposed to all departments in Human Resources—and even more beyond that!
How long have you been with Deluxe? How did you get your job at Deluxe?
I have been with Deluxe for 2.5 yrs. My aunt has actually been with company for quite some time, so I was familiar with their reputation and focus on employee wellbeing. From what research I had done, and talking to my aunt, I knew Deluxe would be a great fit. Originally, I had applied for a different position at Deluxe. I went through the whole interview process and ended up not getting it. I was disappointed, but my recruiter was great and still kept in touch. Eventually, a few months down the road, my recruiter reached back out on a position he thought may be a good fit. I immediately applied, did the interviews, and got the job. Now, the person that got the job I had originally applied for is one of my closest co-workers!
What was your recruiting and interviewing experience like?
Honestly, my experience from the beginning was wonderful. I had never had a recruiter who put in the effort, and actually followed back up regardless of whether I got the position or not. I felt comfortable being honest with my questions and knew I could shoot over a quick email or call to ask for advice. Deluxe was extremely transparent during the whole process, and I think that was the thing that I appreciated most. I felt welcome from the beginning, and it’s crazy to think that my “recruiter” is now a friend in HR, and my “scary hiring manager” is now my boss, who is one of the most authentic and caring people I know.
